News and notes from the Great Lakes Hockey League's annual spring meeting.

The Great Lakes Hockey League recently held its annual Spring meeting, following the 2023-24 season in preparation for the upcoming 2024-25 season. 

New Teams for 2024-25

The GLHL is excited to welcome three new teams to the league starting next season, moving the league's total membership to 11 clubs. New clubs joining the league are:

  • M&M Shamrocks, based out of Marinette, WI
  • Sun Prairie Killer Bees, based out of Sun Prairie, WI
  • Verona (team name to be determined), based out of Verona, WI

The M&M and Verona franchises are both expansion franchises, while Sun Prairie played its first season last year in the American Premier Hockey League.

2024-25 Schedule Format

The league schedule will now be a 20-game format, with each team playing one another in a home and home during the course of the season. 

League Tournament

With the addition of three new teams, changes to the league tournament were implemented. The tournament will go to a 9-team format. The bottom four teams in the regular season standings will play in a play-in matchup (#8 vs. #11 and #9 vs. #10) the Thursday before the tournament to determine the final two seeds. The tournament will take place March 27-30 in Eagle River, WI.
