A look back at a busy weekend in the Great Lakes Hockey League.

Friday, February 23
Portage Lake Pioneers 10, Mosinee Papermakers 6
The offense for both teams came out firing Friday night, but it was the first-place Pioneers who would go on to win 10-6. The first period saw seven goals scored, as the Pioneers scored two, before the two teams traded goals. Then the Papermakers scored two to tie the score, but that tie was short-lived as the Pio's responded just 51 seconds later to regain a lead they would not relinquish. Riley McKay (Portage Lake) and Alex Molski (Mosinee) each recorded four-point nights.

Saturday, February 24
Mosinee Papermakers 8, Calumet Wolverines 3
One night after suffering a road loss, the Papermakers picked up a road win in Calumet. Matt Yeo got the Wolverines on the board first, but the Papermakers' Jason Mcaloon would even the score going into the first intermission. Mcaloon would add two more in the second with another added by Kyle Heck to push their lead to 4-2. The Papermakers cemented things away with four more in the third. Greg Hanson chipped in four assists to lead the Papermakers. Ian Caroll made 27 saves in net for the Papermakers. His counterpart Tyler Hubbard stopped 33 shots for the Wolverines.

Fond du Lac Bears 15, Marquette Mutineers 5
The highest scoring offense in the lead was at it again on Saturday, as the Fond du Lac Bears convincingly defeated the Marquette Mutineers 15-5. Despite giving up the first goal of the game just 49 seconds in, the Bears offense responded with five goals in the first and didn't look back. The Bears hit the back of the net three times in the second, and seven more in the third in a penalty-free game. The three-headed monster line of Anthony Grebe, Nick Monfils, and Ryan Sabel combined for a staggering 22 points, led by Grebe who had four goals and five assists. Monfils also had four goals to go with this three assists, and Sabel had six helpers in the win.

Eagle River Falcons 8, De Pere Deacons 2
A penalty filled game resulted in an 8-2 Falcons win Saturday. Tempers flared in the third with the Falcons up 6-1 when the Falcons Bob McDonald and the Deacons Colton O'Brien exchanged pleasantries. The Falcons finished with 36 minutes in penalties and the Deacons 20. Lucas Otto led the Falcons with three goals and an assist in the victory.
