A recap of GLHL action March 1-2.

Friday, March 1
Portage Lake Pioneers 13, Marquette Mutineers 6
The Portage Lake Pioneers pulled away from the Mutineers during a four-goal second period to claim a 13-6 win over Marquette. The Pioneers took a 4-2 lead into the second period, but that was quickly cut down to just a one goal deficit afer Dallas McLaughlin's first goal of the game. However, Cody Sivonen would find the back of the net three times in the second to widen the lead fo rthe Pioneers. Nick Harris (1-4-5), Spencer Donnelly (3-1-4), and Matt Marchel (2-2-4) led the Pioneers offensively while McLaughlin (3-2-5) and Adam Lemery (3-0-3) led the way for the Mutineers. The win keeps the Pioneers in first place in the GLHL.

Mosinee Papermakers 10, Calumet Wolverines 4
The Papermakers jumped out to a 4-1 lead and cruised to a 10-4 victory over the Wolverines on Friday. The Papermakers struck first with two goals by Theran Bauer and Trey Zagrzebski in a 2:09 span to get the scoring started. After Matt Yeo of the Wolverines cut the lead to 2-1, Max Culp and Greg Hanson each scored late in the first to push the lead for the Papermakers to 4-1. The Makers would go on to score four more in the second (Mitch Filipiak, Warren Sundt, Jason Mcaloon, and Zagrzebski), and cap things off with two more in the third (Max Culp, Bauer). Ian Caroll had an impressive 43 saves for the Papermakers in the win.

Saturday, March 2
Calumet Wolverines 16, Marquette Mutineers 3
The Wolverines bounced back in a huge way Saturday night, scoring nine goals in the opening period to rout the Mutineers 16-3. Michael Babcock finished with a seven-point night (4-3-7), including five points in the first period as the Wolverines pounded the Mutineers goaltending with shots. The Wolverines put 29 shots on goal in the first period and finished the game with 58 as the short-handed Mutineers bench couldn't keep up with the Wolverines. Dallas McLaughlin scored all three goals for the Mutineers in the loss.

Fond du Lac Bears 10, Mosinee Papermakers 9
Anthony Grebe scored with 1:09 remaining on the clock to give the Bears a 10-9 win on the road against the Papermakers Saturday. Both teams lit the score sheet all night long, with the Papermakers taking the lead on two different occasions, and the Bears four times. The Bears erased a 9-7 deficit in the games' final 7:21, getting two goals from Grebe and one by Connor Martin, that tied the game with 3:32 remaining. The league's top two point producers certainly put on a show Saturday, as Grebe finished with four goals and two assists for six points, and Mosinee's Jason Mcaloon finished with two goals and two assists.
