Weekend Recap: Offensive Outbursts Highlight Six-Game GLHL Weekend

2026-03-02

Goals came in bunches across the GLHL this weekend, with high-scoring performances, statement wins, and standout individual efforts headlining a six-game slate. From overtime drama to dominant offensive displays, teams continued to jockey for positioning as the regular season pushes toward the stretch run.

Friday, February 27
Eagle River Falcons 12, Sun Prairie Killer Bees 2

Eagle River’s offense was firing on all cylinders Friday night at the Sports Arena, pulling away for a 12–2 win over Sun Prairie behind a seven-point performance from Todd Koritzinsky, who scored four times and added three assists. The Falcons built momentum early with four first-period goals and continued to press throughout, finishing with 64 shots on the night. Mike Otto chipped in two goals, while Zach Kennedy and Joey Roach each contributed three-point efforts in the balanced attack. To their credit, the Killer Bees kept battling, getting goals from Brad Stoffers and a third-period power-play strike from Mike Chavez, and goaltender Davis Nunnally faced heavy pressure all evening while turning aside 52 shots.

Fox Cities Ice Dogs 8, Calumet Wolverines 7 (OT)
If offense was the theme Friday night in Appleton, both teams delivered in a back-and-forth battle that needed overtime before Fox Cities finally outlasted Calumet 8–7. The Ice Dogs erased multiple Wolverines pushes throughout the night, including a third-period surge that saw Calumet score twice on the power play, before Jason McAloon capped a five-point performance with the winner 2:18 into overtime. Shea Klitzke added two goals and an assist, while Aaron LaFave chipped in three points in the high-tempo affair. Calumet received a monster effort from Matt Yeo, who recorded a hat trick and five points, and Michael Babcock matched him with a five-point night of his own, but in a game that featured 15 combined goals and constant momentum swings, it was Fox Cities that landed the final punch in extra time.

Mosinee Papermakers 11, De Pere Deacons 2
Mosinee methodically pulled away Friday night at the De Pere Ice Arena, breaking open a tight first period with four goals in the second and pouring it on late in an 11–2 victory over De Pere. Max Culp drove the attack with a six-point night (two goals, four assists), while Tyler McHugh recorded a hat trick in the third period and Nicholas D’Avolio added a pair of goals. The Papermakers scored in waves, getting contributions throughout the lineup and finishing with 48 shots on goal. Janne Rukamp and Trevor Hilt provided the goals for De Pere, and despite a push that saw the Deacons generate 19 second-period shots, Mosinee’s depth and sustained pressure steadily widened the margin as the night progressed.

Mosinee Papermakers 8, M&M Shamrocks 3
Mosinee broke things open with a dominant second period and carried that momentum through the night in an 8–3 win over M&M at the Mosinee Rec Center. After Tyler McHugh opened the scoring late in the first, the Papermakers erupted for five goals in the middle frame, highlighted by a natural hat trick from Trey Zagrzebski in a span of just over eight minutes. Kyle Wagner added a four-point night (one goal, three assists), while Max Culp and Devon Blaes each chipped in two helpers as Mosinee generated 53 shots. M&M answered briefly in the second with goals from Ian Wiljanen and John Cooke and later got a third from Brennan Mason, but the Papermakers’ depth scoring and sustained offensive push proved too much to overcome.

Fond du Lac Bears 14, Calumet Wolverines 6
Fond du Lac turned Saturday night into an offensive showcase at the Blue Line Center, erupting for seven first-period goals and never letting up in a 14–6 win over Calumet. The Bears fired 67 shots and had scoring contributions throughout the lineup, led by Zach Wilson’s five-point night and four-point efforts from Dillon Fox, Blake Spies, Jordan Foster, and Nick Sirota.
